They encounter a mysterious figure, with a peculiar structure and form. When the eye opens they lose sight of themselves and must grow toward a universal understanding of one another. The culminating film for my MFA in Computer Arts at the School of Visual Arts. This project was produced over the course of 2019-2020 during the final year of the program and the onset of the pandemic. What started as an abstract art film became a foundational study of simulated forces and growth algorithms in 3d animation. Using Houdini I was able to better understand scripting, particle, smoke, and RBD simulated forces. All shots were rendered in Redshift, composited in Nuke, and laid in time in After Effects. This is the first of what was to be a two-part installation. The final form of this piece was to be a full-scale projection over a physical sculpture. The center piece would serve as the dividing line between the two figures. One left, one right. The growth of the sculpture within the film would be mimicked through projection mapping. Starting the a single triangle and growing into the final form. Sadly, this part was not able to see completion and only exists in memory of a few photos and videos in the days before global shutdown.
